Time Out Challenges #79 - Reminder

Hi Everyone

Just a reminder that there is still time to play along with our Time Out Challenge this week - this time we are CASEing Jenny's card, and it's a beaut!  We are also sponsored this week by Verve Stamps, who are giving away a stamp set of choice to the winner.   The Design Team all had fun showcasing some of Verve's stamps that they were kind enough to provide to us, so make sure you go check them out and the DT's inspiration.

For my card this week I tried to stay true to the original CASE design image.  I die cut a frame from watercolor cardstock using the Lil Inkers Silly Stitched set.   I then stamped the bird and birdhouses from My Favorite Things' Things with Wings using Versafine Onyx black ink.  I then gave it a light wash of water and blue Peerless watercolors. When dry, I 'lifted' some of the color out from the stamped images using a clean water brush and a paper towel. I then colored the images. I used a gold glitter gel pen by Sakura for some embellishment and sparkle.

For the branch, I used a Simon Says Stamp tree branch die cut from kraft cardstock and adhered it with liquid glue.  I used Memento Luxe pigment ink in Olive Grove, Pear Tart and Northern Pine to stamp leaf images from the stamp set.   I then punched some holes and threaded some gold thread to create the strings on the houses.   I popped the whole thing up using fun foam onto a Simon Says Stamp cream card base.

For the sentiment, I used Verve's New Beginnings stamped on black cardstock and heat embossed with white Hero Arts embossing powder.

And that's it! Hope you liked it - I think the lifting technique can really save time painting around images and helps you keep a washed background smooth.  Make sure you enter this week for a chance to win a set from Verve!  I've included below the inspiration card from Jenny:

Have a wonderful week!

AAA Cards Challenge - Die Cuts

Hi Everyone
It's time for another AAA Cards Challenge and this week we're asking you to use die cuts.   We are sponsored by Stamplorations who have a gorgeous flutter Zen layering die and Hello Sunshine phrase  die for the winner  as well as a super generous 10% coupon for all players!!!

For my card this week I used my new Lil Inker's Coffee Talk Stamp Set and Die Set.  I die cut the images from watercolor card stock and then stamped the images using Versafine Onyx Black ink over the top.   For the sleeve, I created a wash of pink on a piece of card and die cut the sleeve once it had dried. I then used Versamark and Simon Says Stamp Rose Gold embossing powder to stamp the sentiment over the top and set it aside.

I used my Daniel Smith watercolors to color the rest of the image, including the straw.  When dry, I adhered the sentiment sleeve on top.   For the base I used 85lb Neenah Solar White and splattered Dylusions spray in black using a paint brush.  When dry, I popped the coffee up on foam squares.

For the straw, I cut a small slit in the top of the cup and inserted the straw.  I added liquid adhesive to ensure it stayed in place and a glue dot on the other end to keep the dimension.  As a finishing touch I added Glossy Accents all over the 'plastic' bubble of the coffee cup and called it done.

I really enjoyed making this card - it's fun to play around with dies and can be hard to keep it Clean and Simple!! Make sure you join us this week over at AAA for a chance to win.  Be sure to check out our Guest Designer Judy's card - it's fabulous.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Time Out Challenge Third Birthday!

Hi everyone!

Just a reminder that there is still time to join in the fun over at Time Out Challenges, where we are celebrating our third birthday !! I'm still relatively new to the Design Team but I think anyone can say that three years is an amazing achievement and we are celebrating in style!! We have so many kind sponsors for our challenge this week!  And to top it off a wonderful guest designer - Ardyth - who's beautiful card is so inspiring.  Congratulations to all the Design Team, it is a wonderful team and I'm so pleased they've welcomed me with open arms and amazing friendship!

The challenge for the celebration is 'Love and / or friendship, with the optional twist of spotlight stamping'.  If you're not familiar with spotlight stamping, you'll see some fabulous inspiration from the design team to help out!

For my card, I took 4.25 x 5.5" piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and stamped the largest image from the Lil Inkers Inky Flowers stamp all over the piece using Simon Says Stamp Wisteria ink.   I then used the outline cup from The Ton Stamps Tea Party set, and stamped it over the pattern in Versafine Onyx black ink.

For the 'spotlight' part of my card, I then used Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers in Violet and Deep Violet to colour in the flowers ONLY where they were within the outline of the cup.  I then edged the cup in a grey Zig where the rim was and underneath to give the illusion of almost a diecut effect - but it isn't - just one layer!

For the sentiment I used Basic Labels from The Ton in Versafine Onyx Black and heat embossed with clear powder, trimmed it out and popped it up on foam squares.  For finishing touches I used clear Wink of Stella on the petals of the cup, and a few sequins from the Pretty Pink Posh Sugar Plum selection adhered with Ranger Multi Medium Matt.   I adhered the whole piece to a 100lb Neenah Solar White Card base with a small border showing.

So that's it from me - be sure to join us in the celebration - look how many AWESOME sponsors we have for the winners, as well as some who are joining us for a blog hop - full details over at the Time Out page.

Be sure to join in !!

AAA Cards Challenge - Oscars Red Carpet

Hi everyone

We have a really cool challenge for you over at AAA Cards this week - Oscars Red Carpet! We want you to create a card inspired by a male or female Oscars fashion from any year.  This week's challenge is sponsored by Happy Little Stampers and there is $15 to spend with them up for grabs for the winner.  We are also joined this week by Hazel as our Guest Designer who has come up with a beautiful card, make sure you check it out and leave her some love.

For my card this week I went super simple -  I wanted to use the sentiment die from The Ton stamps 'Fabulous' - isn't that what they always tell the celebs on the red carpet?!  I started out with a Neenah Solar White 85lb card base and used some gold Nuvo embossing mousse and a dots Tim Holtz stencil to create some glitz and texture.

I then die cut the sentiment from black card stock 5 times and adhered them together. I added Versamark ink along the bottom and embossed with Wow bonding powder and then dunked it into pink Glitter Ritz glitter and tapped off the excess. I then covered the whole word in versamark again and coated it in clear embossing powder and adhered it to the card.  I created the addition piece of the sentiment with my Dymo label maker and scattered some Pretty Pink Posh sequins in Sparkling Clear for extra bling!!

Make sure you play along - so much inspiration and such a fun challenge.  Remember to keep it clean and simple.

Have a great week!

Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Challenge March

Hi Everyone!

It's that time of the month again where we ask you to join in the the Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Challenge!  As usual there is $15 to spend in the store up for grabs for the winner.  This month we have Linda guest designing with us and I'm sure you'll agree her take on the challenge is awesome.

Which brings me to this month's optional twist - smooshing!  There are plenty of tutorials over on the challenge blog if you aren't familiar with this technique - I would recommend checking them out - it's lots of fun!

For my card this week I used the cute umbrella  and sentiment from the HLS Rainy Days stamp set.

To create the card I smooshed Distress Inks onto watercolor cardstock in a variety of blues and greens, drying two or three times between smooshes :)  I used a mix of Mermaid Lagoon, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, and Cracked Pistachio. I then embossed the piece with a We Are Memory Keepers Next Level embossing folder and adhered it using foam tape to a card base backed with patterned paper in a complementary colour.

I stamped the umbrella in Pumice Stone distress ink and did some no line colouring with the ink.  I then fussy cut out the piece and ran around the edge with a black memento marker.   For the sentiment I heat embossed in white on black cardstock, cut out the strip and adhered it, and popped the umbrella up on top.   As a final touch I added some clear wink of stella glitter pen to the umbrella for sparkle.

So that's it! Be sure to go check out what the rest of the DT have come up with over at the challenge blog and be sure to take part, and maybe learn a new technique along the way :D

Have  a great week,

Jenny

Time Out Challenge #77 Home Sweet Home

Hi Everyone

I'm zooming by with a quick reminder that there is still time to play along with us at Time Out Challenges - this week we have a Home Sweet Home photo inspiration.  Our challenge this week is sponsored by STAMPlorations with a prize up for grabs for two winners!  We also have a wonderful Guest Designer -  KandA  - make sure to check out her fabulous blog for more inspiration!

This week I used STAMPlorations wonderful Houses stamp set and really drew from the images and color in the inspiration pic.

The card was super simple and fun to make.  I used my MISTI (and the lining grid) to stamp four of the stamps from the set in Versafine Onyx Black ink (which is waterproof) onto Bristol Smooth cardstock. I then proceeded to colour my heart out!  I used my Zig Real Brush Clean Color markers and a waterbrush and just had fun.  To find I brushed a small grey line with the markers and washed it out.  I added a pop up sentiment from Pink Fresh Studio and I was done!

Here's the photo from the challenge:

Hope you like it - the inspiration photo has SO many possibilities!  I can't wait to see what you come up with.

AAA Cards Challenge - Watercolour

Hi everyone!

I'm back with another AAA Cards Challenge - this week it is watercolour!   The challenge this week is sponsored by Uniko and there is a chance to win any in stock stamp set of your choice.  We also have special Guest Designer Michelle, make sure you go check out her blog!

For my card this week I used an image from the wonderful Power Poppy set Go Wild.  I heat embossed it with Ranger Superfine Gold embossing powder using versafine ink on Strathmore cold press paper.   I then watercolored it using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a waterbrush.

I drew in a line for the ground using a brown marker and watercoloured it out using my water brush.
For the background I used an old background stamp by Hero Arts.  I masked the main image with Inkadinkado masking paper and then stamped the background stamp in Simon Says Stamp fog ink to give some texture.  I then stamped the sentiments in Versafine Onyx Black ink.  As a finishing touch I scattered some Pretty Pink Posh sequins in Sparkling Clear adhered with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.   The whole piece was backed onto a Neenah 110lb Solar White card base.

Super easy and quick to do, and really effective! I hope you'll join in the fun at AAA this week, make sure you head on over to the blog to check out the wonderful creations the other DT have come up with.

Have an awesome weekend,

Jenny
